Hectic

So a hectic weekend in prospect. Friday sees us off to a friends 40th at the Resistance Gallery, private event of course. Saturday sees us off again, this time the Magic Theatre at the delightfully kitch Rivoli Ballroom, then Sunday lunch at the Black Cap in Camden for this. I thought retirement would be a time of rest...

At madame's behest we troop off to Boots, supposedly there is this new facecream, made by many all with the name, BB cream. Aaaanyway you apply it after cleansing and other potions and it can also be worn under makeup. Its like a face cream but with a touch of foundation. Well I purchase a couple of tubes seeing as this version was on a half price offer. Well it seems to work and I get to wear makeup everyday ;-)
Last week we paid a visit to Selfridges and had breakfast in Aubaine. Not cheap but no that expensive.....

So the undocumented purchases... These two came from Lipsy

The denim shorts from Next, roll on Las Palamas.

The skirt from Primarni

The swimsuit from M&S and the socks from Selfridges

The spotty frock from Forever 21

And nice to see these two fit even better than last year.

Well time slips by again, two weeks 'ish. In no particular order here we go. The following Sunday from the LAM we are off perving again, this time the London Fetish Fair. Very well attended both in stands and customers. Natacha and Penny cannot make it but Russell and Sarah do. I manage to escape without spending anything thank goodness but it is a glorious day, not one to be indoors actually. The day does turn sour though as we find out that Russell breaks down on the way home and faces the prospect of an £800 bill !!

Madame and I have a Oxford Street outing and I get a nice pair of spotty denim Primark shorts in Selfridges and a pair of black denim.

The following day the denim shorts I had ordered from Next arrived, result.

Stephanie, Sarah and I take ourselves off for a day out. Well it was for me. After Stephanie texting me that they were running late I head off without them and arrange to meet them outside Selfridges. I have a lovely wander around before they arrive taking in some wonderful items, far, far out of my meagre financial reach. Once we are all met we hop a bus down to the Strand and on foot have a quick detour around Somerset House then cross over Waterloo Bridge. We have a leisurely stroll along the South Bank to Tate Modern. Well it is one place I have not been before and our collective opinion is that it will be our last. Do not get me wrong there are a few modern artists I like, let us just say that Tate Moderns selection is not mine. We exit and cross the Millennium or wibbly-wobbly bridge up to St Pauls thence along Ludgate Hill and a spot of late lunch before wending our collective way home.

Last Saturday night saw Madame and I off out to a friends 40th, Claire of Prong Jewellery fame. Fabulous evening seeing quite a few people we hadn't seen in sooo long! After a slight detour to Kings Cross we get indoors around 1.45 am and yes I was 'dressed'.

Off out in the week with Madame, Oxford Street a wander round Selfridges, eventually we wind up on the third floor in Primark again where I get a rather nice white jacket. We wander down Oxford Street. Madame want to go to Boots as they have a Clinique offer running. It just happens we have to pass Forever 21 and well it would be rude not to go in wouldn't it. I exit with a rather nice summer cotton black/cream spotted little tight frock ;-)

Ooooooo that long !

Well off out today, wedding anniversary. A mere 43 years married and 50 together.
I much prefer day outings to evening, they last much longer and you can do interesting things like shop and look at girlie things. Aaaanyway off we set for Oxford St, first stop Pret for breakfast. Madame goes off to Primark while I go to Superdrug for yet more mail varnish, a clear and a red. A wander up Marylebone High St just to check out the Cancer Research shop but nothing for us, all too small.
Back to Oxford St and John Lewis and a troll round ladies fashions and shoes then lunch in the Brassierie and a return to ladies shoes where madame get herself a pair of boots. I do see two rather nice pairs of ankle boots, the Uggs are rather special but at £195 I give them a miss as I do the Somerset at £165.
So we return home after a walk round M&S at the Pantheon where madame buys me a new jumper which will do in both modes :-)

It's not often

Well it isn't often I complain about dear old John Lewis but.... in I troll this a.m. to buy some black holdups. Can I find any? No. Plenty of nearly black. What's that all about, nearly black, ugh! So I take myself off to Marks and Spencer and without any trouble I locate them.
The other day I went in search of new foundation sponges. With a little left over from my Mac voucher I thought I would try theirs, big mistake. They are awful and dare I say it far inferior to those sold by Boots, so I got another of theirs today.

Soooo, there I am wandering Brent Cross as is my won't and my phone asks if it can do an update, muggins of course replies in the affirmative doesn't she. Idiot. Half an hour later and a flat battery later it finishes and of course it loses all my settings. Why oh why in this age is a software update not able to take on board previous settings and put things back as it was. It can define what it can update and what it can't. It can preserve contacts, pictures etc, etc but settings oh no, grrrrrrrrr! On returning home it took ages it put it all back where it was.

Oh it gets worse. There used to be a memo facility, that is deemed no longer required in favour of a note facility. So far so good. To create a memo in the good old days you just started a new one, now it says what template do you want. Template? For a bloody note! Good grief ! Want to save it. It actually asks you if you are sure. What ! For goodness sake if I say save then save it, its not as though I said delete is it.

Spend

I really shouldn't be allowed out with money. A trip to Brent Cross to spend a voucher still begging to be spent from Christmas would you believe. So first into M&S for breakfast then into Fenwicks and the Mac concession for some Lady Danger lippy and sponges. Dive into Boots for a Rimmel Jet Black eyebrow pencil and under a tenner spent. What I shouldn't have done was go into Zara. I only went in to look and came out with a necklace for £25.99 or £26 as I call it. Had a lovely camp chat with a young lady in the queue to pay who I convinced to go and buy a necklace :-)

Well all that snow has been and gone. Strange isn't it how one's love affair with the prettiness of snow disappears when you have to go out in it especially when its pristine whiteness has gone. Aaaanyway a lovely trip to Westfield White city last week. We have decided that this is out favourite with Stratford being to pushy and shovey for our liking. Don't get me wrong but there is a difference between things being comfortably busy and packed, plus of course the shops are that little bit nicer. Very little was bought, just a little Olay and a foundation spreader. No not a trowel, a sponge LOL.

Upon arrival we selected a rather nice little coffee and bunnery and indulged in hot chocolate with whipped cream, mmmmm, even if the whipped cream came from a squirty can. Going along a deserted aisle we espyed a policeman, as I said to Stephanie, if this was 30 years ago we could have been arrested for this ! Talking of Stephanie she was tempted by shoes that naughty girl, black suede, although we both were in heaven after seeing a pair of suede black and gold heels in Miu-Miu but well out of our price range :-(

So a stroll round and lunch in Byron's and then suitably refreshed we take in a multitude of things we cannot afford. As I have said, I don't mind things that are far out of reach pricewise, it doesn't worry me in the slightest its the things that are just out of reach that get to me.

So my partner and I need to go up to town, off we trot. She needs some dressmaking accoutrements and I some loose powder. A nice breakfast repast in Marks and Spencer and quick stroll through Selfridges and then down to Charles Fox in Covent Garden. A nice chat with the girls about foundation and powder bought its back to Oxford Street and Morplan in Great Titchfield Street only just before we get there madame realises she hasn't bought her student discount card with her! So home we go but not before she has to have a pair of Ugg ear muffs in John Lewis!
