Rest of the week

Tuesday sees madame and I Oxford Street bound. A quick visit to Primarni for some xmas presents and I pick up a pair of very tight black shiny trousers and a visit to Superdrug for some makeup for me then onto Pret for a lateish breakfast. We then wander M&S seeking ideas for xmas presents for madame to no avail. A usual trawl of Selfridges returns the same result. Things are either too expensive or are totally wrong. Ah well I do have a short list of things.
A midweek trawl of Brent Cross turns up nothing but its a few hours out and about.
Its the LAM tomorrow and we will get to meet up with the delicious Penny and Natacha, hopefully Sarah and Russell will be there too. To be able to get two more days dressed results in picture taking this morning.....

Delightful days

Another two happy days with Stephanie. Off out on Friday, bus up to the west-end and a delicious lunch in M&S and then onto the Science Museum in South Kensington. Well my lovelies I hadn't been there for many a year. Oh how it has changed. We were rather taken by the ground floor but not so enamoured by the higher ones, in fact they got worse the higher we went. Ah childhood memories of flicking switches and turning handles, all gone. Herds of school children of course but we walk round unnoticed.

A minor hiatus when Stephanie loses her handbag but it is soon found, phew! Off out into the cold and a bus back to the west-end. We dive into Superdrug as Stephanie needs some new razors. Well as you can imagine it is one of life's little laughs buying male sundries whilst en femme.
After dinner we take ourselves off the Ikea at Brent Park for various items. Quite amazing we only get a couple of quizzical looks.
Today, well morning is photo time followed by lunch an a visit to Brent Cross. Of course it is much more crowded than weekdays but it doesn't stop us, oh dear me no.

How fab

Off we set bright and early for Oxford St. Pop into Primark for a looky-look and all we exit with is a cheapo pair of pyjama bottoms for madame. While she pays I pop into Superdrug for a new powder brush and exit with that and some Olay face cream. A stroll down the road to M&S for a sniff round on our way to Pret for breakfast where I manage to get my paws on the last bacon roll of the day !
Post brekkie we cross the road into Selfridges for our main reason for coming, madame's coffee. Of course we have to go to the denim studio on the third floor and Primark and come away with two new jumpers one of which madame has bought for me, oh lucky me ! We troll through the third floor then down to two, fashions and shoes, oh the shoes. Charlotte Olympia and the liquorice allsorts and madame buys herself a pair of black and red Dr Marten shoes that are rather fab but not as fabulous as the comment she gets from the assistant who remarks that she hopes she is as cool as madame when she reaches her age.

Ooooooo that long !

Well off out today, wedding anniversary. A mere 43 years married and 50 together.
I much prefer day outings to evening, they last much longer and you can do interesting things like shop and look at girlie things. Aaaanyway off we set for Oxford St, first stop Pret for breakfast. Madame goes off to Primark while I go to Superdrug for yet more mail varnish, a clear and a red. A wander up Marylebone High St just to check out the Cancer Research shop but nothing for us, all too small.
Back to Oxford St and John Lewis and a troll round ladies fashions and shoes then lunch in the Brassierie and a return to ladies shoes where madame get herself a pair of boots. I do see two rather nice pairs of ankle boots, the Uggs are rather special but at £195 I give them a miss as I do the Somerset at £165.
So we return home after a walk round M&S at the Pantheon where madame buys me a new jumper which will do in both modes :-)

Fresh air

A trip to take advantage of the Superdrug Olay offer yesterday. As it was a glorious day and one for strolling it was of course sensible shoe day....

I hop on the bus and as we travel along a middle aged french woman gets on and sits next to me. She turns and says.... excuse me madame could you open the window. MADAME ! How fabulous is that!
So we eventually arrive at Oxford Street and off at Primark. Its about 9.30 and Primark is already busy, outside on the pavement sits two Arab women and they have already accumulated seven full sized Primark bags! I was looking for their nail kits but am waylaid by the arrival of their basketball boots in a myriad of colours, a mere £7 and £6 for the plimsole variety. Definitely one for a return visit. It all starts to get manic so I leave. I just cannot bear all the pushing and shoving and the lack of space to examine clothes, not that they had anything that took my eye anyway. I cross Oxford St and into Superdrug get what I have come for and am off again.

A stroll down Oxford Street in the sunshine and into Marks and Spencer where I espy a rather nice leopardskin print jacket in their Limited Edition and some leggings to go with it so all they would need is a nice brown or black top, mmmmm, definitely a post holiday outfit. Apart from a rather delicious dress in their Per Una Speziale range which would have very limited wearings there is nothing that really tickles my purse so into Baker Street and the civilised peace that is Selfridges.
Of course the shoe dept first, such wonderful shoes, too, too many to mention individually but of course I do linger over the Gina shoes, so shparklay !
Oooo frocks, so many fabulous frocks. As I pass the Alexander McQueen concession I am rather taken with a white shirt and skirt but a quick look at the price of the shirt makes me run a mile. Well I mean £840 for a white shirt although I am tempted as the assistant does, in her French accent greet me with "good morning madame", yes another one !
So its off the denim exclusives on the third floor, nothing new unfortunately although Primark have changed their range and not for the better either although I do have a little banter with one assistant on the Hudson jeans concession as I stroke a pair of jeans. If you need any assistance just ask she says, Oh I will I say, if I could get these up my legs I'd have them which tickles her no end. Back on the ground floor I take a look into what used to be Miss Selfridge, well it may still be. Aaaaanyway there I find an absolute darling of a frock, Ted Baker of course.

It must have been frighteningly expensive as it had no price tag and the Karen Millen concession was a revelation. So different, so modern quite unlike their shop in Brent Cross as I was to find out in the afternoon.
All too soon its time for home, we are back on week one of the diet and madam's weight loss has come to a full stop and we need to kick start the loss again.
Post lunch I'm off again, Brent Cross to pick up something from M&S for madam. Of course this means a stroll round too although of course its all autumn/winter stock now and my dears Fenicks ladies fashions have 'done a Tesco', yes the whole floor has been rearranged so to find a particular concession requires the services of Sherlock Holmes. Of course just to throw you certain concessions haven't moved, grrrrrrr!

Holday shopping

Another successful shopping trip. Yesterday sees the kitchen almost finished at about 8am when madame asks if I would like to accompany her to Oxford Street so its down tools and out by 8.30. Straight to Primarni and a pair of el cheaperoonry, dare I say it, male shorts are followed by a pair of denim girlie ones plus a pair of white sandals. Now as you will find later Primarni sizing is total crapola. The denim shorts are a size 12 and fit like a dream. Thinking we are to be homeward bound I pop into Superdrug for some clear nail varnish. This magical elixir has proved a real nail saver. Well over 600 tiles stuck to the walls, ceilings and paintwork washed and painted and not a broken nail in sight. So much so that I am considering trimming them post girlie days on Sunday and Monday.
Aaaanyway I digress, nail varnish bought madame asks if I fancy a jaunt down to the Kurt Gieger shop in Covent Garden. It seems the flat shoes I was after a while ago are in the sale, £120 down to £39. So off we trot whereupon madame spots a pair of low heels and a rather cute bag to go with the flats she bought recently. Suitably weighed down we trek home only to find the sandals do not fit. Well they do and they dont. Everything is fine except the ankle strap is not long enough, in fact not long enough for madame who is at least a size smaller then me so they are marked for return. Back home its lunch and a quick nana nap in the garden and back to the grouting and excess grout removing.
Up with the lark again this morning to get the last of the excess grout off and to wash the inside of a cupboard then paint it. As I am painting the last door madame appears and I say when I've finished I'll go with her to return the sandals. We get to Primarni about 9.00am and she returns the sandals while I have a mooch around. Well by the time we finish I have a new frock in a 16, a long white top and a long legged multi-coloured playsuit in a 16. See what I mean about sizing?. We stagger out with our collective purchases and into M&S where I need two pairs of, ahem, dangly bits flattening knickers. These bought we drop into Pret for a late breakfast, well late for me that is, as it is about 10am. Post face stuffing madame returns to Primarni while I elect for a stroll around Selfridges. We are soon homeward bound and post liquid refreshment on our way to Brent Cross where I manage to find a nice pair of sandals in M&S, £19.50 down to £12. So that is two pairs of shorts, a long white top, sandals, playsuit, frock, knickers all for around £50 and holiday shopping complete !!

Tuesday, 23 April 2013

Well we started late this week, a visit to IKEA first then back home and out again. An outdoor photoshoot with a goth theme in a graveyard. Quite atmospheric with an over grown graveyard but not so much that we couldn't get about. Then it was back home for lunch then putting the IKEA purchase together and that was the day gone.

Off out today and what a glorious day it was. Off to South Kensington and the Natural History Museum. Quite disappointing actually, well it was not our thing but we needed somewhere new. We hop the bus up to Oxford Street and pop into Pret for an early lunch. Supposedly I made an impression on the nice young man behind the counter, mmmm well not as much as the young woman who was in front of me LOL. A quick visit into M&S and Superdrug then its off to South Ken.

As I say we were not that impressed. Of course there were hordes of schoolchildren and we came to the conclusion that the museum is laid out with them in mind. The descriptions of the exhibits are what I would expect to see in a junior school classroom. Most disappointing is the amount of dust on the exhibits!

Still we had a lovely day topped off but a glorious walk across Hyde Park in the spring sunshine. As I said to Stephanie, its called taking it to the people. Most amusing thing was our arrival home. As we are about turn the last corner one of my neighbours is coming in the opposite direction. Well what can you do? Nothing you smile sweetly and greet them of course, bwahahahahahahahahaha! I refuse to hide and am definitely not embarrassed or ashamed of how I am so it is a case of put up or shut up.
